Timo Glock says Virgin needs to look in to why it has not been able to make any progress on track this season.

After a difficult debut year in 2010, expectations were high that Virgin's new MVR-02 would move the team much closer to the midfield and allow it to continue to battle with Lotus. The new car has been well off the pace, however, and after the team was unable to make a new exhaust system work in Turkey it was outqualified by Tonio Liuzzi in the HRT. Glock said Virgin needs to look for answers.

"I knew it would be a difficult first year but we all hoped to make a big step forward and we didn't quite make it" Glock told Sport1. "We need to ask ourselves and understand why we are not on par with Lotus."

Glock's race in Turkey was over before it began as a gearbox problem on the installation lap meant he was unable to take the start. Despite being obviously frustrated with recent events, he said he would not consider quitting.

"No, never. We must keep going together as a team. It's going to be difficult but we have to do all we can to come forward. That's the only goal we can have at the moment."
