Virgin's performance has improved since the technical partnership with McLaren began, according to Timo Glock.

Virgin has remained adrift of Lotus but ahead of HRT at the back of the grid, with Daniel Ricciardo actually beating Jerome d'Ambrosio in Korea. Despite that, Glock says that Virgin has made progress since the McLaren deal was announced in early July, and that the only reason that it hasn't been more prominent is because Lotus has got closer to the midfield at the same time.

"My feeling is that we have definitely improved," Glock told Auto Motor und Sport. "It can't be easily seen because Lotus have also brought improvements which equalised our step. But the data has confirmed what I have felt in the car."

As part of the tie-up with McLaren, Virgin gets access to the McLaren simulator, and he said that allows the team to carry out setup work before a race weekend, while also working on the 2012 car.

"There was a little delay but we have caught up now. We went to Korea with new setup directions, since we have nothing to win or to lose now we can afford to do some development work for next year."
