Andy Powell will not be switching codes to join the Crusaders Super League franchise.

The Cardiff Blues back-row has been linked with a switch to league for some time following friend Gareth Thomas' decision to join the Wrexham-based side. Powell's agent, Emanuele Palladino, confirmed that no offer had been made to his client.

"After much speculation regarding Andy Powell and where he will be playing next season, we wanted to clarify that Andy Powell will not be joining the Crusaders," he said.

"Andy is a close friend of Gareth Thomas, as everyone knows, and also a big fan of rugby league. However, there has never been any official offer made for Andy from the Crusaders despite the rumours circulating in the media. This is not to say that one day Andy will not fulfil his ambition of playing rugby league.

"Cardiff Blues are aware of the truth behind the rumours, and as things stand today Andy is a Cardiff Blues player."

Powell, whose 2009-10 season was disrupted by disciplinary problems following his now infamous golf-buggy incident, has recently been struggling with a thigh injury, which ruled him out of Wales' recent Tests against South Africa and New Zealand. He has also been linked in the media with a move to French side Agen.
