Pastor Malonado is expecting Williams to finally make a step forward with its car this weekend in Canada.

Williams has yet to score a point this season and Maldonado has not qualified higher than 14th all year. He said the team has been working extra hard in the wind tunnel and will bring some solutions to the car in Montreal.

"It has been quite difficult to understand the car since the beginning of the season, especially at the first race," he said. "We have been fighting a lot to try to fix the problems and we have fixed some problems, but they are not easy to solve. We have been working hard and 24 hours a day, especially in the wind tunnel because the problems are coming from the aerodynamics. We've been trying to make some progress and now we understand a bit more about the car. Hopefully this race will be much better for us."

Maldonado will have a new chassis in Canada after writing off his last one in an accident in Monaco. He said the new chassis will not make a huge difference but he is confident some aerodynamic updates will.

"The chassis is more or less the same, just some new parts and new aero parts," he said. "Hopefully we are going to solve some of the problems. We won't solve all of the problems, but we should make a step forward, which we have been expecting for some time."
