Bottas wants to remain at Williams
Valtteri Bottas says he would like to extend his stay at Williams despite the team struggling so far this season.
After seven races, neither Bottas nor his team-mate Pastor Maldonado has managed to score a point in the uncompetitive FW35. Bottas arrived at the team amid high expectation after Sir Frank Williams described him as "quite simply one of the most talented young racing drivers I have come across", and he was finally able to show some of his potential in the wet conditions in Canada when he qualified in third place.
Despite a dry race meaning Bottas quickly dropped out of the points, when it was put to him that deputy team principal Claire Williams would like to see him remain at the team, Bottas was positive about staying.
"Sure, that sounds good!" Bottas told MTV3. "Let's hope this continues. There's no point thinking about it too much. The best thing I can do is focus on the race and do my best. Things then go in the direction you want them to go.
"I think Canada was good for me in that I was able to show my skills. Hopefully it proved that I deserve a place."
