Maldonado rubbishes Williams rumours

Pastor Maldonado has rubbished reports that he has been seeking a way out of Williams at the end of the season.

Williams is enduring another poor year, with the team having scored just one point all season courtesy of Maldonado in Hungary. Maldonado himself has been critical of Williams, and former team owner Eddie Jordan stated after the Japanese Grand Prix that he doesn't expect Maldonado to remain with the team beyond the end of the season.

With the Associated Press reporting that a currency row could jeopardise Venezuelan drivers' funding, Maldonado's future seems uncertain but he claims he is happy at Williams.

"The rumours about my relationship with Williams F1 Team and vice versa are completely false," Maldonado wrote on Twitter. "There is a good relationship between myself and the team, we have been working hard day and night to improve our performances and results.

"Unfortunately this is F1; there are good years and bad. I think we're not the only ones who go through difficult times in terms of results. Similarly, we have shown that even with non-competitive performance we did not give up and won't until the last race.

"About my future: I will be in F1 next season proudly representing Venezuela. Hopefully good news soon."
