Rubens Barrichello is confident the Williams FW32 has the potential to improve by up to a second per lap and is hoping to break into the top six later this season.

The team has scored just six points this year, leaving it a distant seventh position in the constructors' championship behind Force India and Renault. Technical boss Sam Michael has said the car is simply "not fast enough", but Barrichello is confident better lap times can be unlocked from the chassis.

"We know exactly some of the areas in which we need to improve," Barrichello told Speedweek. "We are not suddenly going to find a second [per lap] from somewhere, but the important thing is that I am firmly convinced that the second is in the car. We want to be in the top six in qualifying, but even to achieve this, we need to find half a second."

He added that after leaving the championship-winning Brawn team last year he had quickly gelled with his new team.

"There is a good harmony between driver and team," he told Brazil's Globo. "The best thing is that I am not happy with the results and neither is the team. We just need to keep on working. Williams are prepared to listen to me, which is good. They really trust my inputs so I am feeling good about that."
