Bruno Senna has played down rumours he is set to secure a race seat at Williams for 2012.

Senna, who drove for the Renault outfit in 2011, is one of many drivers including Adrian Sutil and Rubens Barrichello who is in the frame to partner Pastor Maldonado next season.

The Williams team endured a torrid 2011 season and is still is looking for a new title sponsor after its contract with AT&T, worth around £4.5million, expired at the end of 2011. Senna would bring his sponsor Embratel to the beleaguered British team, so any extra funding is viewed as a bonus.

"Despite some rumours, my situation remains the same as before," said Senna on his Facebook page. "In other words, I am still not confirmed with any team so I'm still battling for a place in F1."

Senna's late uncle Ayrton was killed at the wheel of a Williams after crashing at Tamburello during the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994.
