While the world of sports seems to have taken a fortnight off to watch the Olympics, there has been little time to rest for the Williams team which is spending the week in Venezuela on a publicity trip to meet fans of Pastor Maldonado.

Maldonado is joined in Caracas by Sir Frank Williams and the highlight of the visit will come on Sunday when Maldonado will drive the car round the capital city's national monument, Los Proceres, in front of a crowd expected to number around 20,000.

"'I'm a proud Venezuelan and I can't wait to return home on the back of my win earlier this season at the Spanish Grand Prix," Maldonado said. "I've always received lots of support from my fellow countrymen and this trip is an opportunity to give something back to those in Venezuela who have helped me get to where I am today.''

"We receive fantastic support there," Williams said. "With the various events planned this is our chance to bring the excitement of Formula One closer to the fans and thank those who continue to support us.''
