Mark Webber says he will be keeping an eye on McLaren's progress following practice for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Although Red Bull was first and second in FP2 - with Webber behind team-mate Sebastian Vettel - McLaren ended the day with both cars in the top seven and fastest through the speed traps. With the McLaren looking like it is set up for overtaking Webber admitted it could trigger other teams to do the same.

"There might be a little bit of racing at some stage obviously, so you need to keep an eye on that," Webber said. "Seb had a little look at some different wings as well so we'll go through it tonight. Nothing really spectacular, obviously McLaren are maybe looking at something a little bit different, they don't looks super uncompetitive - I haven't had a look at everything yet but we'll have a look at the wings."

Speaking about his running during Friday practice, Webber said the focus had predictably been on tyre life.

"[The track] is not exactly super riveting - it's full of second and third gear corners - but that's the way it is. We just look really to find what the tyres need and obviously you can't do two fast laps in practice, especially in the first session because the tyres just disintegrate. And then we looked at the long runs which weren't too bad, so all about tyres again."

Asked if the soft tyre looked like it would hold up better than in India, Webber replied: "It looks like it yeah, which wouldn't be difficult."
