Lewis Hamilton admitted the second practice session for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was "a bit of a struggle" for him.
Having been comfortably quickest in FP1 when only running on the medium tyre, Hamilton was second to Sebastian Vettel in the second session as he struggled to find time on the soft tyre. Hamilton admitted that he was encouraged by the pace shown in the opening session but that had been tempered in FP2.
"It's been an interesting day," Hamilton said. "We got through quite a lot; we seemed quite good in P1 but P2 was a bit of a struggle for me."
When asked if it could be a case of struggling to switch the tyres on, Hamilton replied: "Potentially, yeah. I don't really know.
"It's very difficult to get the time out. We had quite a good time on the prime and then people seemed to be finding 0.8s on the option, but I wasn't able to get any time on it so perhaps it's about switching the tyres on.
"If we get pole then it'll be fantastic, but we shouldn't get our hopes up; Sebastian's got a faster car."
Hamilton added that he was also a bit frustrated by traffic issues that he encountered on high fuel.
"When you're out there and pushing and pushing and then in the long run every minute you get some traffic so you can't really complete your time it becomes a bit tedious because you start to push and then someone's in front of you so it was very, very difficult to get a gap."
