The return of the Austrian Grand Prix has been given the go-ahead by local authorities, according to reports in Kleine Zeitung and on Autosport.com.

The Red Bull Ring was waiting on the necessary legal permissions to hold the event in June this year, and according to the reports it has now been granted. As part of the approval the circuit will be allowed to accommodate a total crowd of 225,000 over the weekend.

The Austrian Grand Prix is set to return the F1 calendar on June 22, with the race taking place on the revamped A1 Ring (now called the Red Bull Ring) that hosted the event between 1997 and 2003.
