Romain Grosjean has set his sights on winning a grand prix after his third place in the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Returning to Formula One this season after an ill-fated spell with Renault in 2009, Grosjean showed impressive qualifying pace but failed to finish the first two races. From then on his aim has been to steadily improve, and while he had previously been aiming for a top five finish this weekend Grosjean admitted that he was surprised how competitive Lotus had been.

"For sure it's great," Grosjean said. "It's a strange feeling so far but I'm sure I will be delighted tonight. I'm very proud of the team, what we did - second and third in the race - we knew we had a good car but I think we were a little surprised at how quick we were. We did a bit of a different strategy than with Kimi and it turned out to not be too bad at the end and I think our car is very competitive.

"So far it's been a very tight season and every small detail makes a huge difference so the team is working very hard; bringing some new pieces as well and then putting back the old and trying to see which one is the best. It's not always easy when you have little running but I think we can be very happy with what we did."

Grosjean added that having secured his first ever podium finish he would now be resetting his sights on securing his maiden grand prix victory.

"Personally I am very happy to be on my first podium, it's quite a good feeling I have to say! I was saying I wanted my first points, top five and then podium so I jumped one step. The next step is a victory, but it will take time and now I think we can have a week off to enjoy the time and to work a little bit in the factory to try to find the six seconds gap that there was with Sebastian."
