Froch's Super Six final re-arranged for December 17

WBC super-middleweight champion Carl Froch's Super Six final title fight against WBA belt-holder Andre Ward has been rescheduled for December 17, according to widespread reports.
The long-awaited contest to conclude the six-fighter tournament was originally scheduled for October 29, before Ward was forced to postpone his meeting with the Nottingham fighter last week after suffering a cut to his hand during sparring.
But, with the injury not expected to keep the American out for long, a new date for the fight has now been set for the week before Christmas.
"It's only fitting that we finish up a terrific year of boxing in Atlantic City with a fight that could wind up as the fight of the year," a promoter involved in the bout told local press.
It is believed that three dates - December 3, 10 and 17 - were initially offered to the two fighters in the aftermath of Ward's announcement, although the first two dates came with their difficulties.
American broadcaster HBO already has a full schedule of boxing lined up for December 3, while British broadcasters would have desperately wanted to avoid having the Super Six final go up against Amir Khan's own title defence against Lamont Peterson.
December 17 thus became the obvious date for all concerned. And Ward is confident he will be fully recovered by the time the contest - which should still take place at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall - finally rolls around.
"I'm doing fine. I get stitches out in a few days," Ward said on Twitter. "The work won't stop. I'll be ready when the new date is set. Thanks 2 [sic] all the well wishers."
