WBA super-middleweight champion Andre Ward has vowed to "humble" WBC king Carl Froch when they meet on December 17 in Atlantic City.

Relations between Froch and Ward appeared cordial when the fight was first announced, but of late the bad blood has begun to simmer. Firstly Froch accused Ward of using headbutts during his bouts, then the camps went to war over a cut sustained by Ward in sparring, which caused the fight to be postponed from its original date in October.

After discovering there would be a delay, Froch hinted that Ward was exaggerating the severity of his wound, commenting: "No fighter gets in the ring 100% injury-free. I'm always injured, there's no need to get the violins out."

Now Ward, a former Olympic champion, has hit back at his opponent. "The guy [Froch] I'm fighting is doing a little bit too much talking," he said. "He's a very arrogant guy and really needs to be humbled."
