Kell Brook enjoyed a glorious homecoming as he extended his unbeaten record with a unanimous decision victory over Matthew Hatton in front of his home fans in Sheffield.

The unbeaten Yorkshireman claimed his 27th win from as many fights as he proved too good for Hatton in the War of the Roses at the Steel City's Motorpoint Arena, with the judges scoring the fight 119-107, 119-108 and 19-109 in favour of Brook.

Brook, who enjoyed victory on his US debut with a fifth-round stoppage of Luis Galarza last year, soon settled into his rhythm, doing some early damage with a series of jabs.

Hatton attempted some combinations in the third, but Brook always looked more dangerous as he began to dictate proceedings. Hatton came out firing in the fifth, but Brook responded, and by the end of the sixth, the Sheffield boxer was firmly in control; having landed 109 punches to Hatton's 27.

A left hook from Brook in the ninth left Hatton on the canvas, but the veteran was straight back up, throwing shots to put Brook on the back foot. Hatton threatened to make a late rally as he desperately looked for the knockout, but Brook never looked in danger of defeat as he cruised to a comfortable victory.

"I enjoyed it," Brook said. "It was a spectacular night, now we're going to go on to bigger and better things as there's no-one to touch me in Britain."

On the undercard Carl Frampton successfully defended his Commonwealth super bantamweight title with a straightforward second-round stoppage of Ghanaian challenger Prosper Ankrah.

The Northern Irishman was untroubled by his opponent and immediately after his routine win his promoter Eddie Hearn claimed the 25-year-old is more than ready to face either Scott Quigg, Kiko Martinez or Rendall Monroe.

The surprise of the evening came when the unfancied Kerry Hope took a majority decision against the previously undefeated Grzegorz Proksa to claim the EBU middleweight title.

Despite being docked a point at the start of the ninth round as the two clashed heads in what was a fiery encounter, Hope's determination shone through and the 16/1 underdog was awarded the fight after the judges scored it 114-114, 115-112, 114-113.
