Forget about Khan fight - Brook

Kell Brook claims he is more interested in a shot at the WBA welterweight title than he is in securing an all-British battle against Amir Khan.

Following Brook's comprehensive points victory over former European champion Matthew Hatton on Saturday, promoter Eddie Hearn claimed he could sell 40,000 tickets for a Brook v Khan stadium showdown.

While that would be a tantalising prospect for British fight fans, Khan is currently tied up with a May rematch against Lamont Peterson - and besides, Brook's immediate priority is getting his hands on a world title.

"I want whoever I can get my hands on," Brook said to boxingscene.com. "I'll be watching Vyacheslav Senchenko vs. Paulie Malignaggi [for the WBA title] and Andre Berto vs. Victor Ortiz [non-title, but both former world champions] with great interest. I want to be fighting at that top table now with elite fighters. I think I've proved I deserve to be there.

"Forget Khan. I'm doing my own thing. I'll get a belt and will be packing big arenas out. I've done this since I was nine years old and I'm buzzing at the moment. The dream is still popping. We're still unbeaten and it's going to stay that way for a long time."
