Amir Khan is hopeful of welcoming Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba to his next fight in Las Vegas in May.

Khan is a huge Bolton fan and his ties to the club have enabled him to strike up a friendship with Muamba.

Muamba remains in a serious condition at The London Chest Hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest on Saturday. He has made good progress in the past couple of days and is said to be laughing and joking with family and friends.

Khan fights Lamont Peterson on May 19 and would be delighted to have Muamba at ringside in Las Vegas.

Speaking to the Sun, Khan said: "I know Fabrice quite well and it would be fantastic to see him at ringside. I've met him out in Bolton numerous times and also at the club training ground.

"The last time I saw him was actually only a few weeks ago in Manchester and he came over and hugged me.

"We chatted and he said that he was going to come over to Las Vegas for my next fight. He's a very nice guy and to see that happen is so sad.

"I've been constantly checking for updates on Fabrice and I heard the news he is talking a little bit which is brilliant to hear."
