Fabrice Muamba continues his recovery from a cardiac arrest, with Bolton revealing the midfielder had a "comfortable night" in hospital.

The midfielder remains in the intensive care unit at The London Chest Hospital, where medical staff are continuing to monitor his progress.

It was revealed on Monday that Muamba was able to recognise family members and respond to questions, and that the 23-year-old was able to move his arms and legs and his heart was beating without the aid of medication.

In the latest statement from Bolton, it was announced that Muamba would not receive any visitors outside of his family and Bolton colleagues in order to aid his convalescence. Chelsea's Ashley Cole, Arsenal defender Johan Djourou and QPR winger Shaun Wright-Phillips all visited Muamba on Monday.

"Fabrice Muamba had a comfortable night in the intensive care unit at The London Chest Hospital, where the medical team is continuing to monitor his progress," said the statement.

"Fabrice's family has asked us to thank everyone again for their thoughts and prayers and continued messages of support, from which they draw great strength.

"To ensure the smooth running of the hospital for all patients - as well as Fabrice's need to concentrate on his recovery - they would request that he receive no more visitors for the moment, outside of immediate family and members of Bolton Wanders."
