Unbeaten British welterweight Kell Brook has made the ambitious claim he feels he can topple pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao.

Brook's star is on the rise after his impressive points win over Matthew Hatton last weekend, but he is yet to get his hands on a European-level belt, let alone a world one.

His doubters claim he is yet to face a truly top-class opponent, with Hatton probably his toughest test to date, and there are still unanswered questions about both his temperament and the toughness of his chin.

Nonetheless, he is expected to have the chance to silence his detractors soon, with bouts against big-hitting Argentinean Marcos Maidana and Vyacheslav Senchenko, the WBA welterweight champion, reportedly on the horizon.

And ahead of those battles, Brook is not short of confidence: he suggests the fluid style of boxing he has learned at the celebrated Ingle gym in Sheffield will give him a chance against anyone, no matter their reputation.

"I think people have seen how fast Manny is, but honestly, and I don't know if it is because of the Ingle style and what I've seen, I think I can beat him," Brook said to boxingscene.com. "Manny is only human, Matthew said he thought I was better than [Saul] Alvarez and I think I'm ready to step up to the highest level."
