- Audley Harrison v Ali Adams
Harrison rescues victory from jaws of embarrassment
Audley Harrison needed a real wake-up call to save himself from a potentially embarrassing defeat to Ali Adams on Saturday.
Harrison, the former Olympic gold medallist, had spoken in the build-up to the much-delayed fight against Adams about his intent to fight the likes of David Price and Tyson Fury in the near future, but those claims looked to be some way wide of the mark as Adams made much of the early running.
Harrison's punch-shy start was reminiscent of his no-show against David Haye in 2010 that seemed to have put an end to his career, but the 40-year-old suddenly found his hunger and unleashed a series of brutal shots in the fourth round that eventually forced the referee to stop the fight.
With Price now the British champion, Harrison has at least given himself an outside chance of fighting the Liverpudlian later in the year.
