Bellew wants Toffee fight night

All Tony Bellew's wishes could come at once in 2013 as he eyes up a second world title fight at the home of his beloved Everton FC: Goodison Park.

Bellew is No. 3 in the WBC rankings and if he comes through a final challenger bout on March 30 then he will become a mandatory opponent to Chad Dawson.

The 30-year-old had his first world title tilt in 2011 against Nathan Cleverly but lost by a majority decision.

But as his shot at redemption potentially edges closer, Bellew is fixated by the chance of fighting at the venue where his cherished Toffees normally ply their trade.

"Goodison Park under the lights would be the dream," Bellew told the Liverpool Echo. "It is crazy. I am now friends with the chairman and I know he would love to have the fight at Goodison.

"I never ever thought that I would be talking about the possibility of fighting at Goodison. But my focus is definitely on March 30 and whoever I am going to fight."

While Bellew believes he was good enough to beat Cleverly a year and a half ago, he is far happier with the road he is treading now as he feels more worthy of a title shot.

"I don't have any regrets about getting the Cleverly fight but I do look at it and know I didn't deserve the shot," he added.

"I should be fighting for a world title because I have proved I'm world class and have beaten other contenders in the division. Not because of a press conference and being able to sell loads of tickets at the ECHO Arena. I am doing it the right way now."
