Kell Brook is adamant he will have to find space in his suitcase for a world title belt when he flies back from Detroit after fighting American Devon Alexander on February 23.

Alexander has spelled out the challenge awaiting Sheffield fighter Brook at the Joe Louis Arena next month and believes he will easily retain his IBF welterweight title.

But the undefeated Brook, 26, insists he is inspired to upset the odds, adding that he has been waiting for this chance since he first walked through the doors of the Wincobank Gym as a nine-year-old.

Since he started his tutelage at the gym, Brook has not been short of examples for how to take on the world and win as "Prince" Naseem Hamed and Clinton Woods both learnt their trade there.

"This will be the biggest night of my life and I have been dreaming about it since I first turned up at the Wincobank when I was only nine," Brook is quoted as saying by Boxingscene. "This is the fight for me, the one I have trained all my life for. There is no way I am going all the way to Detroit without bringing the title back.

"It is my destiny. Every time I walk into the gym, I give it everything. I am so passionate. There is no way I am going to lose. I have seen world champions come from my gym and I have always wanted to follow on their footpath, so now is my big chance to become a superstar overnight."

Brook's fight with Alexander, whose record reads 24-1, was originally scheduled for January 19 but had to be put back a month when he rolled his ankle in training before Christmas. Had he fought in January, his promoter Eddie Hearn says he would only have been 60-70% fit but thanks to the extra time Brook insists he is in world-beating form.

"When you feel like I do the confidence positively oozes from you," he added. "I feel in the best physical and mental shape of my life. I have had a spartan time, training all over Christmas and being away from my family. "But I know it will all be worthwhile in the end.

"I have made a lot of sacrifices but you have to do those things in order to make a dream like mine finally come true."
