Brook bout with Alexander postponed again

Kell Brook's tilt at Devon Alexander's IBF welterweight title will be rearranged for a second time because of an injury to the American.

Sheffield fighter Brook was slated to enter the ring with Alexander in Detroit on the 23rd of the month. But his opponent has apparently picked up a bicep injury and will not recover in time.

This delay follows Brook's own postponement of the bout, originally set for January 19, in December after he rolled an ankle in training.

In recent weeks Brook, 26, has told Alexander that he will not be returning to England without his crown while Alexander has hardly paid lip service to the idea, stressing that the Briton is a mere stepping stone to bigger fights.

The announcement has not been made officially by Alexander's promoters Golden Boy but Brook's camp took to Twitter to tell the fans. The fight is expected to be delayed by four to six weeks.

Brook's promoter Eddie Hearn wrote: "We received the news from Golden Boy Boxing that Devon Alexander has pulled out of the fight due to a bicep injury. We will have a new date ASAP."
