Fury-Haye 'must be agreed by end of June'

Tyson Fury and David Haye have until the end of June to agree terms on their heavyweight showdown, Fury's trainer and uncle Peter Fury has told ESPN.

Unbeaten heavyweight Fury pulled out of an IBF eliminator clash with Kubrat Pulev that would have put him on course to face Wladimir Klitschko shortly after Haye withdrew from his fight with Manuel Charr, freeing up both fighters for what Fury has described as "the biggest fight ever to enter a British boxing ring."

And Peter Fury has backed claims that a deal is almost done - though he insists that negotiations cannot be allowed to drag on into July.

"We're currently in talks with them [Haye's promoters]," Fury told Steve Bunce. "We're not over the finishing line. There's still a lot to be agreed but we're optimistic of making that fight.

"We want the fight - Tyson wants it, I want it. We want to prove to the public. We believe that David is a very good fighter, and I want Tyson to fight the best and David Haye is one of the best - he's certainly the best in England.

"We're up for that fight and for us it's just about getting it over the finishing line. We're optimistic that the fight is going to get made this year."

While Peter Fury remains confident that his charge with face Haye in his next fight, he has not ruled out lining up another opponent before the year is out should negotiations break down by the end of June.

"Sometime this month it's going to be finalised," Fury said. "Either way this fight's going to come to a sort of resolution by the end of the month, so we're looking to get it sorted.

"Tyson's been in training anyway for the past six weeks. He's fit, he's on weight, so if the fight doesn't happen for some reason we'll look to pick some other tough opponent. That's all we can do for now."
