DeGale camp sends contract to George Groves

James DeGale has revealed George Groves will be receiving a contract to fight him on Monday, and then the Olympic champion will go searching for a world title bout.
DeGale destroyed Carl Dilks in the first round at the LG Arena on Saturday, despite pre-fight speculation that Dilks would provide a good test for the 24-year-old. After the stoppage, DeGale instantly discussed the prospect of fighting Groves, stating: "I want to fight again as soon as I can and December 11 sounds great to me - as long as Groves is in the opposite corner. He has been shooting off his mouth but let's see now if he wants to do his talking in the ring with me coming at him."
Now DeGale has revealed the wheels are already in motion to set up the battle of two huge British boxing prospects, a clash that would represent a rematch after Groves beat DeGale in a previous encounter.
"I think him and David Haye were there," DeGale told Sky Sports News. "He's been running his mouth in the past, so let's just do this. Let's get it out the way now. Let me knock him out now.
"Hopefully he takes it. I'm told he will get a contract on Monday offering him good money so, December 11, let's do this."
DeGale only rated his performance against Dilks as a "six out of ten", but he is adamant that the time has come for him to start contesting world titles. Frank Warren has been careful not to rush one of his greatest assets, but DeGale is not prepared to wait longer than 18 months.
"I'm ready. Carl Dilks was meant to be a test but I got in there and dealt with him nice. Whoever Frank puts in front of me, I'm just gonna deal with them. I'm ready.
"I'm the new golden boy. If I had my own way, I'd be boxing for a world title next. People say I shouldn't run before I can walk, but please believe me. I train so hard, I'm so dedicated, I'm ready for big names. Maybe not a world title yet, but in the next year to 18 months, I'm ready."
