Groves edges closer to DeGale date

George Groves' camp are confident of agreeing a December clash against James DeGale after returning a counter-offer to the Olympic champion.
DeGale set his sights on Groves' Super Commonwealth title challenge after knocking out Carl Dilks in the first round at the Magnificent Seven event on Saturday. The pair have been fierce rivals since their amateur days and DeGale will have revenge on his mind after Groves defeated him four years ago.
DeGale's manager Frank Warren had set Groves a 48-hour deadline after submitting a written offer on Monday. In response, Adam Booth, David Haye's trainer and managing director for Hayemaker Boxing raised the stakes with a counter-offer.
"I can assure everybody that we are determined to make this fight become a reality and are doing everything in our power to bring George Groves and James DeGale together before the end of 2010," said Booth.
"We have made an offer for James to challenge George for his title in December on a Hayemaker Boxing show. Frank Warren wanted us to put our money where our mouth is and that is exactly what we have done.
"We have come to the table with a far more substantial offer than the one Frank Warren made to us on Monday afternoon. We have noted Frank's urgency to have the fight agreed within 48 hours and therefore expect James and Frank to step up and accept our incredibly generous offer."
