Rosberg suspects Red Bull is faster in wet
Nico Rosberg suspects Red Bull is likely of beating his Mercedes in the wet at the Brazilian Grand Prix, despite setting the fastest times in both Friday practice sessions.
Wet weather meant the fastest times of the day were set on intermediate tyres, and in both the morning and afternoon sessions Rosberg went fastest. Sebastian Vettel was a couple of tenths shy of Rosberg's best time, but Rosberg said he suspects the Red Bull is fastest.
"It generally felt good and it was a good day in the wet," he said. "You don't know where the others are and you'd expect the Red Bulls to be quicker anyway and I don't know how much fuel they were running. But in general it looked like good pace and for me it can stay wet this weekend."
Asked if he stood a chance of challenging for pole position if qualifying is wet, he said: "It's too early to say that but I have a good shot at being right at the front in qualifying."
Pirelli brought 2014 slick tyres for Friday practice but the conditions meant only Vettel tried them for a single lap in the morning before the rain intensified. Rosberg said there was no use in trying 2014 parts or tyres during the two sessions.
"No, we didn't [try anything]," he added. "It's very difficult in these conditions because you are trying to measure aerodynamics and things like that and with all the spray and everything it's very difficult to get any reliable measurements."
