Bruno Senna is hoping a strong performance at his home race in Brazil will help his chances to secure a drive for 2013.

Senna is out of contract at Williams at the end of the year and is expected to be replaced by test driver Valtteri Bottas. He will start 12th in Sunday's race and believes a good performance at Interlagos could count for a lot going in to the winter.

"It's important like any race in the championship, but many times you are remembered by what you've done in the last race," Senna said. "If I can have a very strong race tomorrow it will be good for what's happening next year."

Senna said he had banked on a setup that put more heat into his tyres and although it cost him him in qualifying when the track dried, it could come good in the race.

"When we were looking at the forecast for Saturday and Sunday we thought the temperature would be a bit lower [on both days]," he added. "That sunny spell in Q2 really put me in a tough situation when there was a big change from Q1 when the track was a bit more damp and the tyres were lasting a bit better."

Senna said there would be no extra pressure performing in front of his home crowd.

"For me it's great. One of the nicest things I've ever received from my fans was in 2010 when I had a very uncompetitive car and I was really struggling, but when I went to the grid I got massive support from the crowd. They were extremely supportive and that support has just grown from 2010 to nowadays. It's very important for me to give something back to them and hopefully we can have a strong race tomorrow and if everybody can come away from the circuit with a big smile on their face then why not?"
