Webber 'confident' after Friday
Mark Webber said that he was "confident" with the progress made by Red Bull during Friday practice in Canada.
Despite having won in Monaco last time out, Webber arrived for the Canadian Grand Prix somewhat as an underdog with the Mercedes-powered cars expected to be strong. Webber was 12th quickest in the second practice session but just 0.6s slower than Lewis Hamilton and he said that Red Bull was pleased with its start to the weekend.
"It's been a pretty good day," Webber said. "We thought there would be more mixed weather, but it didn't come. We ran the super soft tyre in the first session, which we thought was the right thing to do, but in the end it didn't really rain in the second session. The programme was a bit compromised, but we still got everything done that we needed to.
"We're pretty happy with where we're at and I'm confident in the work we did with the car, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow. There are some quick cars out there, but we've seen that on Fridays before this year - I'm looking forward to the weekend."
