National League One side London Welsh have announced the signing of former Wales A international Nathan Bonner-Evans from Sale Sharks.

Back-row Bonner-Evans, 30, joined the Sharks in 2005 from the Ospreys and won a Premiership title in his first season with the club. He brings a wealth of experience to Welsh, having made 28 appearances in the Heineken Cup and European Challenge Cup with Neath, Ospreys and Sale.

"My first aim is to cement a place in the London Welsh team and prove my worth to Head Coach Danny Wilson," he said. "I've played at a high level throughout my career and London Welsh are a club that are definitely going places and I want to be a part of that and bring the club some success.

"I've won the Guinness Premiership with Sale and the Celtic League with the Ospreys, so another string to my bow would be if I could help London Welsh get into the Premiership.

"I've played under some top quality coaches in the past and with some of the best players in the world and I've learnt a lot from them, so hopefully I can help out the younger guys at London Welsh."

With Welsh currently seventh in National League One, Bonner-Evans will have a lot to do if he is to help rekindle their positive early-season form.

"Nathan brings a great deal of experience to London Welsh, which is something our young squad can definitely benefit from," said Welsh boss Danny Wilson. "He also brings a physical presence and is a renowned ball carrier which is vitally important in this league.

"Nathan has leadership qualities and those will come to the fore not only on match-day but also in the training environment, as he understands what it is to be a full-time professional at the top end of the game. I'm sure he's going to be a great acquisition for London Welsh."
