Schafer set for UFC return at middleweight

Eric 'Red' Schafer is set for a third stint in the UFC and is expected to face Aaron Simpson at UFC 136.

With Nick Catone out of the fight with an Achilles injury, the UFC veteran has stepped in for the fight at Houston's Toyota Center on October 8.

Since being cut by the UFC in March 2010, Schafer has dropped down a division and made his middleweight debut in the XFO promotion, claiming a first-round win over Chris Albandia last week.

Simpson, meanwhile, is looking to claim a third straight win in the UFC after back-to-back wins over Brad Tavares and Mario Miranda.
