White: I guarantee I'll make Silva say 'yes' to Jones
UFC president Dana White claims he can definitely convince Anderson Silva to fight Jon Jones, when the organisation believes the time has come to make the bout.
Silva once again proved himself to be the best mixed martial artist on the planet with a one-round destruction of Stephan Bonnar, which saw the Brazilian toy with his opponent.
The Spider dropped his hands, ate punches, laughed and even assured his corner that he was OK before exploding into life to finish Bonnar via TKO. It was the type of performance that raised questions as to whether anybody can actually challenge Silva anymore.
The near future would appear to offer up a super-fight with welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre, but perhaps the biggest test remaining is Jones - the light-heavyweight king.
Both Silva and Jones have previously stated they will never fight one another, and the Brazilian declared after Saturday's win: "I won't fight at 205 again, I was doing it to save the event, but I won't fight at 205 again."
That would seem to rule out the possibility of a Silva v Jones encounter, but White insists money would change both men's minds.
"I will fly down here, I'll lock myself in a room with Jorge [Guimaraes], Ed Soares and him, and I'll make this fight," White said.
"I know this: the Georges St-Pierre fight is a big fight. I think the Jon Jones fight is a big fight. I know my man says, 'No, no, no,' but the amount of money that would be offered for that fight, I guarantee you I will make Anderson Silva say, 'Yes, yes, yes.'"
