Wozniacki labours to victory at Charleston

Top seed Caroline Wozniacki beat Patty Schnyder 6-2 7-5 to move into the quarter-finals of the Family Circle Cup.
World No. 2 Wozniacki was forced to overcome the dual obstacles of a laboured second set performance and a crowd that was firmly behind her opponent.
"I'm sure the crowd helped her today," Wozniacki said. "She really got pumped up and was believing in herself. It's just important to keep focused on your own game.
"I think I played pretty aggressively, especially in the beginning. Second set I let her dictate a little more."
No. 2 seed Jelena Jankovic advanced with a 6-3 6-1 victory against Evgeniya Rodina, prompting her to hail the improvement in her game. "I think I played much better today than the first round," she said. "I think I was hitting the ball much better and moved much better as well, so I hope to continue." Jankovic next faces Daniela Hantuchova.
Vera Zvonareva beat Alona Bondarenko 6-2 6-1 to set up a tie against Melanie Oudin.
In the Barcelona Open, Roberta Vinci needed less than hour to book her place in the semi-final, beating Timea Bacsinszky 6-3 6-0. Bacsinszky won just 11 points in the second set as Vinci dominated, and the Italian now faces Alexandra Dulgheru.
Also through to the semis is Yaroslava Shvedova, who shocked Iveta Benesova 6-4 6-4. Benesova's second serve proved her downfall, losing over 60 percent of points when her first serve missed the box.
In the semis, Shvedova will face Francesca Schiavone, who beat Carla Suarez Navarro 6-4 6-4.
