Sam Stosur blitzed Vera Zvonareva to wrap up the Family Circle Cup in Charleston on Sunday.

Stosur, who reached the 2009 French Open semi-final, showed she is equally dangerous on the green clay of the US, winning 6-0 6-3 in a one-sided contest. The fourth seed is now expected to return to the world top 10 when the next rankings are released.

Zvonareva qualified for Sunday's final courtesy of an injury to Caroline Wozniacki in the semis, but she had nevertheless avoided dropping a single set all week. However, Stosur has had something of a stranglehold over her opponent in recent months, winning their last four encounters, and she increased that number to five in South Carolina.

The big-serving Australian dropped only two points on her own serve in a dominant opening set, whilst taking 12 of 15 on the Zvonareva serve. Seventh seed Zvonareva made more of a fight of it in the second stanza, but she was broken twice more as Stosur cemented victory.

The match was wrapped up inside 53 minutes by Stosur who, on this form, looks a good bet to improve on last year's performance at the forthcoming French Open tournament.
