Michael Schumacher rules out TV pundit role
Michael Schumacher has ruled out becoming a TV analyst following his retirement from the sport.
"That would not be my cup of tea," he told Bild am Sonntag. "Things move so fast in Formula One that I'm already actually a long way off the pace. Secondly, I would again be away from my family so I might as well be driving ... [had I been away] that would have been more fun."
He said he had watched the winter testing but "we also know that winter tests are only of limited relevance. I think the season will be really tight. We had seven different winners in 2012 in the first seven races. And I think this is a trend for this year."
Schumacher said that since quitting for a second and final time he had "been very active with the family" at his home in Switzerland and that he had enjoyed being "free and without obligations".
His wife, Corinna, is a rider and breeder of horses and Schumacher admitted he has enjoyed being more involved. "Initially I was doing this for Corinna's sake, but now it is more and more fun. It's like with most things; the more one is busy, it becomes more interesting.
He has even advertised her horse blankets. "My wife fully supported me for many years, because it goes without saying that I'm doing the same for her."
