Tyre test 'not helpful' - Fernley
Force India deputy team principal Bob Fernley says no other teams carried out the tyre test which Mercedes did because "it's not helpful".
The row over the Mercedes tyre test is set to continue with the stewards in Monaco preparing a report for the FIA. While Red Bull and Ferrari protested, Fernley was asked if Force India would have considered doing the same but he said it was wrong for one team to carry out the test without transparency with the other teams.
"I don't think you can," Fernley said. "The thing with it is is that if you're going to do a test you need to be transparent about it because it's not going to do you any favours by trying to do something that you're going to get caught out on. Even if it's right, it's not helpful."
Fernley also said Force India would not be protesting because "I think Red Bull and Ferrari can do a better job of it than we can!"
Looking at Force India's race, Fernley said he was pleased for Adrian Sutil after his recent run of poor results ended with a fifth place.
"I was very pleased for him because he was getting just a little frustrated and I can understand that, especially after a year out. So for him to be able to deliver today - especially here at Monaco - and to do the overtaking moves that he did will just do his confidence the power of good so great for him."
