Downbeat Hamilton blames self for poor results
Lewis Hamilton says he is to blame for a poor run of results after finishing seventh in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Having qualified fourth, Hamilton slipped back during the race as he struggled to get past Esteban Gutierrez after his first pit stop. He was also unable to pass Adrian Sutil for a number of laps and eventually had to follow Paul di Resta home in the closing laps after Fernando Alonso passed the pair of them.
Hamilton said after the race that it wasn't a case of being held up by slower cars but not being quick enough to finish any higher.
"Even if I wasn't in traffic I wasn't fast enough to be honest so it doesn't really matter either way," Hamilton said. "Even if I was ahead I would have been overtaken, so just wasn't good overall. The team did an incredible job and then on the grid they had to do another great job to change some things so they were phenomenal this weekend."
Asked if there was any specific area it felt like that car was weak for him, Hamilton replied: "It was like I had another 50 kilos in the car or something, I just was slow."
Hamilton also said he felt he is to blame for his recent lack of results.
"It's the same old story, just a different day. It's the same every race so it can't be other people's fault."
