Webber in 'satisfactory' condition following big accident
Former F1 driver Mark Webber was kept in hospital overnight with bruising and concussion after being involved in a huge accident at the World Endurance Championship six-hour race in Sao Paulo.
With less than half an hour to go in the race, Webber's wrecked Porsche was left in flames after he collided with Matteo Cressoni's Ferrari GT car and speared into the barriers on the long uphill left hander after Juncao. Webber signalled he was fine by giving the thumbs up to the crowd on a stretcher before he was taken to the medical centre.
An official statement said Webber was in a "satisfactory" condition and was awake and alert after the impact. Cressoni also avoided serious injury.
"After clinching pole position for the last race of the season, Mark had a very heavy accident in Sunday's six-hour race in Sao Paulo," a statement on Webber's website read. "With less than half an hour to go Mark, who shares the Le Mans Prototype with Timo Bernhard (Germany) and Brendon Hartley (New Zealand), crashed heavily into the barriers at the fast last turn of the lap.
"Mark was taken to the medical centre and has later been transferred to a hospital in São Paul. He is in a satisfactory condition and will stay overnight for further checks."

It was a bittersweet weekend for Porsche in Brazil as Romain Dumas, Marc Lieb and Neel Jani went on to take its first win of the year in the sister car.
