Red Bull tensions blown out of proportion - Webber

Mark Webber believes tensions within the Red Bull team at the British Grand Prix got blown out of all proportion and says he has no regrets about what he said over the team radio.

After winning at Silverstone Webber said "not bad of a No.2 driver", which helped fuel speculation that he had fallen out with his team over its decision to switch an updated wing from his car to team-mate Sebastian Vettel's. Webber admitted that he would rather the comments had not been made public but does not want to retract them.

"I don't have any regrets, no," Webber said during a press conference in Hockenheim. "As a sportsman, and that is why we are all here - it's a sport, things happen in the heat of the moment that just happen. I should have put some colourful language either side of my radio transmission, because maybe it would never have got run. But I was polite and it did get run, and then a few extra people heard what I had to say."

He claims that there are no hard feelings in the team.

"It was a pretty emotionally-charged weekend," Webber added. "We all know that there were a few things that went on, but it can all easily get blown out pretty quickly. And to be honest, it did.

"I had no worries at all that things wouldn't have been addressed, and they were. Christian and I had good discussions about things, which wasn't too difficult. Here we are ready to go at the German Grand Prix and we're looking forward to it."

Team boss Christian Horner also felt what happened at Silverstone was blown out of proportion.

"We spoke about it after the event, and a lot was made of it - perhaps more than it warranted," he said. "But as a team we are pushing very hard, we are pushing to get components to the circuit very aggressively, as are the front-running teams. That is the way we will continue to operate and that is the only way we are going to be able to compete and fight with the likes of Ferrari and McLaren."

In a separate press conference Vettel reiterated the Red Bull party line.

"There was a lot of talk and a lot of press, but the most important thing you need to understand is it doesn't matter who wins the race - we are a team," he said. "At Silverstone, Red Bull Racing won the race, Mark did, but for some reason we didn't get a lot of positive feedback. But we know where the focus is, and surely at this race, as everywhere else, the team is as motivated as ever. The most important thing is the atmosphere here - and it doesn't get affected by what is said or what is written."
