Sebastian Vettel said he expected a tight weekend after setting the third fastest time in practice for the Spanish Grand Prix.
Vettel was over a second off the pace of his team-mate Mark Webber in the morning session, and despite improving to within 0.4s in free practice two, found himself beaten by Lewis Hamilton's McLaren. Having taken a comfortable victory two weeks ago in Turkey, Vettel said he was expecting a closer weekend based on the times set by Red Bull's rivals.
"All in all it was good," Vettel said. "This morning wasn't maybe ideal, but this afternoon I was happy. I think it will be tight this weekend, we look in good shape, but the others seem quick as well."
Vettel also admitted there was a noticeable difference in the new compound of hard tyres that Pirelli has introduced for this weekend.
"It was a very productive day - it was the first real chance we had with the new spec of hard tyres - and I can confirm they are pretty hard!"
