Fernando Alonso says Sebastian Vettel will hit bad luck soon and that Ferrari must maximise the opportunity when it arises.

Vettel currently holds a 29-point advantage over Alonso after just six races, with Alonso attributing three poor results to bad luck rather than driver or team error. Comparing how many points he has scored this season, Alonso says the amount of points Vettel has is not normal and that bad luck will strike the championship leader at some point.

"We have two more points than last year in this race and we were leading the championship last year, so in a way we are doing better than last year," Alonso said. "What is a little bit out of normality is the points that Sebastian has scored in these six races, that is a lot.

"We need to try finish in front of him and unlucky races will come to everyone. They will come to him as well, came to Kimi [Raikkonen] in Monaco with the accident and we are very close; only five points behind him. They will come to Sebastian and in that race we need to maximise it."

Alonso said that in order to put himself firmly back in to the title frame he needs a strong run of consecutive good results.

"Not only this race, we were hoping for some consistent results after the Bahrain problem and in Monaco we didn't score so many points. So it's true that we need four or five consecutive races more or less on the podium or close to the podium and in that aspect recover some of the points we miss at the moment."
