Ferrari fans have marked Michael Schumacher's birthday with a vigil outside the hospital where he is being treated in Grenoble.

Schumacher turned 45 on Friday, but remains in a coma following his ski accident in the French Alps on Sunday. On Thursday Ferrari called on fans of the team to travel to Grenoble to take part in a "silent and respectful event all in red at the Grenoble University Hospital Centre" to mark Schumacher's birthday.

A number of fans unveiled a large Ferrari flag outside the hospital as part of the vigil, with others holding signs carrying messages of support.

There was no update on Schumacher's condition from his medical team or management on Friday following his fifth night in a coma.
