Ferrari set for 'big improvement' in 2015 - Raikkonen
Kimi Raikkonen believes Ferrari has made changes in the right places this year to be more competitive in 2015.
After the first year under new engine regulations, Ferrari struggled to fourth in the constructors' championship while Raikkonen was outperformed by team-mate Fernando Alonso. On top of the poor performance of the Ferrari F14 T, Raikkonen complained of a lack of front-end grip during the year, which he claims does not suit his driving style.
The team has undergone major changes this year, chief among them Marco Mattiacci being appointed team principal in April before being replaced by Maurizio Arrivabene at the end of the year. However, Raikkonen is confident the restructure within the team during the season will pay off in 2015.
"I feel that the changes that have been made in the team inside are going to make a big, big improvement," he said. "It's an unfortunate thing that we had this kind of year, it's not good for me and it's not good for Ferrari, but that's part of the game.
"It's not the first time we had a difficult year and you have to take the good things out of it and make sure things don't happen like that again in the future. There is a lot of good things to take away, but obviously the end result is bad. That's how it is."
Raikkonen said he expected the 2014 season to be difficult ahead of his move back to Ferrari from Lotus over the winter.
"I expected it to be difficult because I knew how things work and if the car doesn't suit you … I had a similar situation before with Ferrari one year. It's not easy to change things when certain things are not right for you, but we are still here and we have a clear plan of what we have to improve and do to get back where Ferrari should be."
