Felipe Massa says he hopes to be as competitive as he was in Monaco during this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix.

Having scored just two points in the opening five races of the season, Massa was finally competitive at Monaco where he finished just six seconds behind race winner Mark Webber albeit in sixth place. Massa said the similarity in track characteristics between Singapore and Monaco was giving him confidence he could secure a strong result but admits he'll need a smooth weekend to do so.

"Monaco was a very good race for us," Massa said. "Hungary not so much, which is the high downforce tracks. For sure it's quite a different layout between Monaco and Hungary, but here is more in the direction of Monaco so I really expect to have a good direction, a good car, and I hope we can have a good possibility to score a good amount of points on this track.

"Here is always a very tricky and very difficult race putting everything together; how hot it is here, how difficult the track is, the layout, the tyres, so that's why I think it's important to put everything together to have a good result at the end and a competitive car as well."

Massa also reiterated his focus on delivering good performances in order to try and convince Ferrari to extend his contract.

"We need to carry on trying to do a good result, trying to do the best in the car, trying to put everything together - that's what I'm always trying to do. I think this is the most important thing for me. I'm not too worried that my contract is not signed yet but I'm really looking forward for that."
