Fernando Alonso believes he and his Ferrari team can outscore Red Bull in the next two grands prix to take the 2012 championship.

With two races remaining in the season Alonso is ten points behind championship leader Sebastian Vettel. Whilst he thinks that having never raced at the Circuit of the Americas track for this weekend's United States Grand Prix will not play to his advantage, he maintains his belief that Ferrari is the stronger team overall than Red Bull.

"I think it's not an advantage to be at a new circuit" Alonso said. "I think all the teams will adapt very quickly in the first practice. We all have simulators that we use to prepare for the race, so I think that it is more or less the same.

"I trust my team, I trust myself and we are honest with ourselves. We know that we do not have the quickest package out there and we've been qualifying on average I think sixth or seventh, so qualifying is not our strong point. Our strong point is to score more points than the others on Sunday, and I am sure we will do this over the next two races."

Alonso also added that Ferrari will maintain its focus of "maximum concentration and maximum effort" for this weekend's grand prix.

"Nothing has changed in terms of preparation and approach. But it's important to have a good Friday here maybe more than on other circuits to learn the racing lines, the possibilities and some tricks that [the circuit] may have, so we can be in the best possible position on Saturday to score as many points as possible in the race."
