Redknapp told to miss five weeks

Harry Redknapp has been advised by doctors to "not even think about football" for five weeks after he underwent heart surgery.

Redknapp felt chest pains and struggled to breathe as he ran at his home last week, and that scare necessitated an operation, which involved the insertion of two stents to unblock coronary arteries.

The Tottenham boss initially said he would be back on the training pitch after this month's international break, but has now altered his plans.

"I have got to listen what the doctors tell me and not get too stressed out," he told Sky Sports News. "Stress is what causes most of the problems anyway. I will be fine, I have just got to take my time and when I am ready come back and get on with it but not before I get the go-ahead from the people in charge.

"They have said I shouldn't even think about football for four to five weeks and get myself stressed. I will see how I go but I hope to be back before then."

In Redknapp's absence, Spurs beat Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
