AVB happy with Lampard's role at Chelsea

Andre Villas-Boas has admitted he can understand Frank Lampard's frustration at failing to nail down a regular start at Chelsea, but has stressed the midfielder is not alone in his plight.
Lampard climbed off the bench to hand Chelsea a 2-1 win over Manchester City on Monday and after the game reaffirmed his commitment to the club, despite expressing frustration at spending time on the bench.
Villas-Boas has been busy answering questions about the futures of a number of players, including Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres, and is happy with the position of Lampard who he claims has featured more times than the majority of his squad this season.
"I followed Lamps' comments after the game," Villas-Boas said. "I know the headline played like that [frustration at not playing], which is fair as it came out of his mouth. But what I will say is there are plenty of other players who are pushing for first-team selection and Frank is not the only one.
"There are many who are making good efforts to get into the squad. Lamps is one of the top five players most used. Every player wants to be involved every game but sometimes it is not possible."
