Newcastle dismissed as 'too small' for Giroud

Newcastle are "too small" to interest the highly-regarded striker Olivier Giroud, according to Montpellier owner Louis Nicollin.
Giroud has scored 13 times this season as Montpellier surged to second in Ligue 1 and has been linked with a move to Newcastle, who have signed several players from France in the last 18 months.
But Nicollin says the Magpies are not an option for the 27-year-old striker, although he could not rule out selling to a club like Arsenal.
"Newcastle? They are too small for him,'' Nicollin told television station RTL. "Arsenal? You would have to see if Arsene Wenger is interested but, as before, there is Van Persie.
"And at €10 million? No. Given that he still has more than two years of contract, it will cost more. He has a contract until 2014, [so] €50 million or €60 million at least.''
