Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has said he is "101 per cent" confident that striker Mario Balotelli will remain at the club.

Balotelli insisted in the aftermath of City's remarkable Premier League title triumph that he would stay at the Etihad Stadium beyond the summer, stating that it was time for critics to "shut up" and let him get on with his football.

Mancini had previously indicated he would "probably" sell the Italian after his sending off against Arsenal in April, but it appears he has now had a change of heart.

"Mario has been very clear and I reiterate: Balotelli will remain at Manchester 101 per cent,'' Mancini told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Balotelli, who set up Sergio Aguero for the 94th-minute winner against QPR which earned City their first league title since 1968, has been included in Italy's preliminary squad for the Euro 2012.

"I am confident he will have a great European championship,'' Mancini added. "I hope Mario will be the leader of the national team because he is the best Italian striker.

"He just needs to make his brain work. That is his only problem.''
